Artists are free to set-up and sell your handcrafted work on the 500 block of Congress Street sidewalks.

Join in the fun alongside LIVE MUSIC by Kouchera and Justin Merle plus face painting, balloon twisting by Markus Steelgrave.

To be eligible, write to [email protected] and attach a link or image of your work. Camille will confirm with you on Monday or Tuesday for Wed set-up at 3:30-4pm for the afternoon event from 4-7pm near 511 Congress Street Plaza.

Although we are at full capacity for our morning reports to be held at our 6th Biennial Arts & Culture Summit in University of Southern Maine McGoldrick Center, we are still providing space for artist meetups outside of the “speed dating” format. If you’d like to join the conference breakout sessions at 3:30pm, write to [email protected]. No charge to participate in the artist meetups.

An exhilarating Portland arts reception - including a close knit family of writers, visual artists, dancers, musicians and arts patrons gathered together last night at the stunning Cove Street Arts and Greenhut Galleries to hear our homie Hannah Pingree talk about her origin story and passion for public service in a state she loves and is fiercely willing to protect by providing innovative opportunities as our next governor of Maine. Put on your volunteer hats and get engaged in the next two months to bring home the win for Hannah!
Thank you to my team JACKIE and camille bisson from work ( last slide) who joined in to help last night and special thanks to Hannah for her passionate and convincing gubernatorial run for this essential frontline position. You’ve got this and we’re all here to hit the pavement and take you to the finish line.

Exhibit/artist spotlight! 🔦

"Subject: Guard" is a new show by Erik Schurink at Rhonda Pearle 's Flatiron Coffee Bar gallery at 594 Congress St.

Schurink highlights museum guards all over the world in a medium they typically protect. Portland Museum of Art

Artist will be present in the gallery August 7th, 4-7pm for the First Friday Art Walk & the show will be on display until August 31st.

Artists are invited to submit work for S.N.O.W. '26 (Small New Original Works), an open call from Sidle House Gallery Sidle House . Submissions are being accepted through August 31 and are open to artists from Maine and beyond.

Eligible work must be new and created since January 1, 2026, measure 16 × 16 × 16 inches or smaller (19 × 19 inches maximum framed), and may be in any medium. Submit images of one or two artworks by email to [email protected], along with the artwork title, date, dimensions, materials, suggested gallery price, and a brief artist bio with a photo. Selected artists will be announced by October 1, with the exhibition on view November 20 through December 13.
