Pillars of Eternal Dusk contains six tracks of crushing "slow death" recorded live in the band's hometown of Portland, Maine. For fans of: Coffins, Mortiferum, Grave Upheaval, and Disembowelment. Mixed by Ethan Camp (Caustic Wound, Mortiferum) and mastered by Dan Lowndes (Blood Incantation, Cerebral Rot).

Portland, Maine’s “slow death” outfit WORM ALTAR will unleash their debut full-length, Pillars of Eternal Dusk, on October 16th, 2026 via Dawnbreed Records, Gurgling Gore, and Contemn Light.

Following a slew of crushing demos and EPs, Scott M. (now joined by a full band) finally unleashes the long-awaited WORM ALTAR debut. Drawing inspiration from Gorement, Disembowelment, Coffins, and Black Sabbath, WORM ALTAR inhabit that particularly fertile territory where death metal becomes less a display of brute force and more an exercise in atmosphere, physicality, and dread.

The first single, “Watchers of the Gate,” is streaming everywhere now.

The genre-bending metal trio Shabti (named for ancient Egyptian funerary figurines) hail from Portland, Maine and boast a formidable lineup of members from Falls of Rauros, Obsidian Tongue, and Worm Altar. Their third album, "Haze, Cacophony, And White Light," will be released in August by Contemn Light. It is rightly described as "calculatingly lethal, deploying an incinerating salvo of black-edged ripping death wrought in layers of inflamed technical prowess and progressive flourishes" -- and we have a great example of all that in the song "Sojourner" that we're premiering today (see the comment link below).
