"What inspired you to have a show based on the Art Center's outdoor spaces?" Need I say more? Connie said, "I finally got some help pulling weeds!" And she was- only eating the ivy! Connie is still looking for more help in the gardens, which look incredible BTW! Come to the heART of town and hang out with some wildlife, and the animals outside too!

With busy summer schedules we know that not everyone can settle in for multi-week classes. Also, some people like to try their hand at something before a full commitment. Plus, you can only fake illness so many times with the boss during the work week. Well, we've got you covered on this one! A three-hour workshop introducing you to Impressionistic Watercolor Painting with Nancy Blaney. We have a couple spots that opened up for this Saturday from 9-12, and more 5:30-8:30 Wednesday, June 17. Call or go online to our website to reserve your spot. (Please call the gallery for the Saturday spots- that one is not on the web page.)

We've had a late addition to the class schedule starting next week!
Verna Sheldon will be teaching watercolor, heavily centered on techniques that will build core skills that the student can adapt into finding their own style. A high energy class that will be a great way to end your week.
Fridays, begining June 12, 1:00-3:30.
Class description and purchase options on our web page under CLASSES, or call the gallery to reserve over the phone.

I can honestly say, one of my favorite shows we've ever done! So many "home grown" aspects to this exhibit. Work was inspired by and/or created from elements of the Art Center and our property. The artists are all students, instructors and members of the Art Center. MANY of these entries are a first time someone has ever entered a show! AND, 95 artists entered over 160 pieces!!! That's Open Show numbers!
The show is officially OPEN, but we will have the reception in mid June- TBA soon. With our classes in their two week break, this is the perfect time to visit and enjoy front row parking!

The Art Center will be closed Memorial Day. Military service and/or sacrifice has touched nearly every American family in some way over our 250 year history. May we all find the strength to respect and honor that for at least this one day. Live this life like the gift it truly is.

Well, look at us! Tennessee showing up for the arts in a major way. These statistics are impressive, especially compared with others around the nation. Thank you, Tennessee!

Imagine the cheese roll replaced with a Bill Capshaw pot or mug and I really don't see the scenario changing much. Hmm... we have art, and we have plenty of steep hills... have we found our new fundraiser?!? That's a YES! from me! ( or maybe just a lively new gala instead...) 😉 If we do the hill thing I'll even contribute a piece to chase after. I have a feeling the BOD will poo poo the idea because they have no vision. I mean come on- throw art down the hill AND GO GET IT! 🤣This job is so easy! Anyway, keep your eyes and ears peeled for some very exciting "stuff" just on the horizon. BTW, cheddar cheese is only averaging about $6/lb nationally, so save your energy and orthopedic health for the great Art Toss! I'll work on the name a little; "Master-pieces"; "Plein 'Get'n Air' Race"; "Moaning Lisa Memorial Art Roll"; "Cartwheels and Color wheels Bonanza"; or simply the "Fall Festival"? 🩺🩼🎨

FOR SALE: A classic! Low mile fixer-upper with good bones ( not sure whose...). Clean title if you're not too picky about details. Ran like a clock last time I started it. A little touch-up paint and some air in the tires and you'll be ready to roll. Cash only; I know what I got.

OK, not everything is always as good as promised, but even this car has incredible value. You see, it's been tagged with one of Tennessee's Specialty Plates! Even sitting here, in its glorious "garage find" state, it's bringing in money for the Arts in Tennessee. The specialty plate program provides 80% of the funding for the Arts in our state. And with over 100 to chose from, you can find that final touch to complete that special project the city has been sending you notices about over the last couple years.
