Are you a lover of Monroe history? Join Kevin Daly, the board historian of the Monroe Historical Society, on June 25th as he introduces, discusses and investigates one of our town’s earliest official documents, The Peppercorn Lease. This document, dating to 1765, defines the details of the land donated for Monroe Center’s first burial ground. For generations, the location was believed to be in the backyard of a house at Monroe Center. Did they get it right? Let’s apply state-of-the-art technology to put the claim to the test.

To mark America's 250th Anniversary, illustrator, author and Advanced Cicerone Em Sauter will give an illustrated presentation tomorrow discussing the role of beer and brewing in American history. Starting from the Pilgrims landing on Plymouth Rock (because they were out of beer!) to the modern craft brewery movement and the beers we love today, beer has been woven through the fabric of American history.
