On June 16th, 1972, David Bowie unveiled his landmark album, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars. His breakthrough LP, it sold over 7 million copies and was hailed as one of the greatest albums of all time.

Ever heard of a Contrabass Balalaika?
The Contrabass Balalaika is the largest member of the traditional Russian folk instrument family. Known for its oversized, triangular "dorito" shape, it plays the same register as a double bass or bass guitar. It features three strings, is propped on the floor via an endpin, and is typically played with a large leather or wood plectrum!

ON THIS DAY IN MUSIC HISTORY:
On June 10th, 2003, Luther Vandross's album "Dance With My Father" was released This came two months after he had suffered from a debilitating stroke. The album went #1 in America and the title track won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year.
Vandross later passed away on July 1, 2005.
