We have an immediate opportunity for a highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to assist in our Curved Optics Division department on the second shift. This role is responsible for the setup and operation of precision single point diamond turning machines to produce aspheric, spherical, and diffractive optics and mirrors.
Join our enthusiastic and collaborative team to work with high tech, high-precision machines to create precision optics. We offer a friendly and fun environment, with the opportunity to grow within the company, in addition to great pay and benefits. This position is located in the Curved Optics Division of Spectral Systems, Located in Jaffrey NH. This is a second shift position.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
PRIMARY Qualifications:
• Commits to providing our customers with outstanding value, service and product quality.
• Knowledge of IR materials
• Knowledge of geometrical and physical optical tolerancing
• Experience in the set-up, programming/editing and operation of SPDT machines
• Perform machine preventative maintenance and minor repairs as required
• Knowledge of spherical/aspheric metrology testing methods and equipment
• Follow ISO procedures and methods
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Qualification:
• Perform this job successfully; an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Experience:
• Required: 2 years experience in precision machining or equivalent education and work experience
• Preferred: 4 year degree/5+ years’ work experience or 2 year degree 5+years as a Diamond Turning Programmer
• Education/Training:
• Preferred: Under graduate degree in engineering, chemistry or physics from a certified college or university.
Knowledge/Skills:
• Set up and operation of Precitech and Moore Nanotech SPDT lathes
• Advanced print reading skills-ability to read and comprehend all fabrication specs
• NC Programming Skills- Knowledge of G Codes and M Code, DIFFSYS, NanoCam
• Metrology Skills-Knowledge of aspheric measurement, and testing methods using Zygo ZeGage, Taylor Hobson PGI, and Zygo Verifire Interferometer.
• Advanced computer skills (MS Excel, Word, Power Point, Office)
• Lean/Six Sigma Training
• Help to bench mark and develop performance standards as well as monitor progress towards company quality goals.
• Support company values and work ethics.
• Perform tasks as assigned by the Production Manager in a timely and professional manner.
• Support other departments as required in a timely and professional manner.
• Support as needed towards lean manufacturing events, root cause analysis, preventative action, customer returns, non-conformances and other quality events.
• Team and communicate openly with all Spectral Systems’ employees in order to maintain and continually improve the quality, the delivery and the costs of fabricated product.
• Maintain a safe work environment and enforces all safety protocols.
• Report to the Engineering Manager and Security Officer all security breaches.
• Report to the Engineering Manager and Safety Officer any observed employee accidents or person injury.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
• BODY POSITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods of time. The individual must also have the ability to maneuver around the plant and climb stairs.
• BODY MOVEMENTS: The employee must have a full range of body movements including use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, computer equipment and peripherals; and bending, reaching and crouching.
• BODY SENSES: Must have command of these senses: sight, hearing, touch and smell (if applicable). Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These vision requirements in each area must be sufficient to shift in focus from computer screens to close forms.
Due to the nature of our business this position requires US citizenship or resident alien status. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
