Shoutout today for the Labor of our Tuesday Volunteer Team! Their handiwork shines on our cobblestone roads. They have uncovered, restored and are now replacing missing stones.

Flashback to remember our first Orchard Wassailing event this past January. We have started planning our next one for January 2, 2027. We would love to have a co-chair for this event. If this is of interest please email us at [email protected]

Have you seen our new sign? After a long process of documentation and preparation, our application to have the Decatur Cemetery receive a local historic designation was accepted by the Historic Preservation Commission.

Now is where you can play a role. Before any chance of approval, our application needs public support. It is scheduled to be on the agenda at the Aug 18 Historic Preservation Commission meeting and then at the Sep 8 City Commission meeting. The final decision is by the City Commission and that vote should be at their meeting on Sep 28. We would love to have anyone who is able to come to speak on behalf of this designation for the Cemetery, but if you cannot attend, please email your support to the HPC staff person, Aileen de la Torre at [email protected].

Yay! The iron work on our Cemetery wall is being repaired! Thank you, Gem City! They are making repairs from the car crash last October and replacing finials and resetting the gate.

Progress! The Cemetery wall that was damaged in an Oct 11, 2025 car crash is being repaired! The stone work was completed and now we wait for the iron work to be repaired.

Remember, the posted speed limit in that curve is 20 mph.

Sometimes trees come down with a saw, sometimes with the wind. We are so grateful for the arborists who work for City of Decatur GA- and manage our trees as they do other City parks & greenspaces. Thank you!

Apples, pears and plums will be ripe soon! We love our Decatur Cemetery orchard!
