Decatur Farm to School (DF2S) is an official program of the Wylde Center (@wyldecenter).

Decatur Farm to School began as a grassroots effort led by parents, teachers, school administrators, community members and organizations with the objectives of serving healthy meals in our school cafeterias and proving health and nutrition education opportunities that will last a lifetime.

Decatur Farm to School Fall Dine-Out on November 20th!

Wylde Center’s DF2S Fall Dine-Out features the best that Decatur has to offer with choices ranging from casual to fine dining and everything in between. Please check them out!

Agave — Located in historic Cabbagetown, this Southwestern favorite is famous for margaritas and daily specials served out of an open kitchen.

Arepa Mia — recently named a Michelin Guide recommended restaurant — is known for 100% gluten-free and organic arepas, cachacas and more.

B-Side — Brought to you by The Deer and Dove, the B-Side offers bagels, soups and salads along with breakfast pastries. Great for on the go or dining-in with a cup of coffee.

The Brick Store — named the best craft beer bar in America — they also have an upstairs room dedicated to Belgian beers. No tvs, just good food, conversation and service.

The Deer and Dove — named James Beard best Chef in the Southeast (Terry Koval) and recipient of a Michelin star, this restaurant has elevated Decatur dining to new heights while still retaining its neighbored vibe.

Ford’s BBQ — BBQ with a Mexican twist. All the bbq standards plus tacos and from-scratch sides. They also offer whole smoked turkeys for Thanksgiving or any time.

Kimball House — recently named a Michelin Guide recommended restaurant is also a James Beard Award recipient. Known for their oysters and outstanding cocktail service and an elegant but fun atmosphere.

Leon’s Full Service — housed in a renovated garage, Leon’s served elevated American fare and cocktails.

Mezcalitos is a family friendly Mexican restaurant where every day feels like a holiday.

Oakhurst Market — How did we live without it? Weekly suppers, prepared foods, sandwiches, a great wine selection and cheeses. Ice cream too!

Pizza Verdura Sincera — The newest pizzeria in Little Five Points, Pizza Verdura is completely vegan and also has gluten-free options along with a curated wine list. They will be featuring produce from Wylde Center gardens for the Dine-Out.

Steinbeck’s — The every changing menu (often with an Asian twist) also features a burger that made it to the Today Show finals as best burger in America.

U-Joint — The anchor of Oakhurst village, the busy patio and cozy restaurant has everything you need for game night or any night.

Wahoo Grill!— Not just for date nights, this romantic College Avenue spot is known for stellar seafood, wine list and service.

Have you meal planned yet? Why bother?! THIS Wednesday, November 15th, is the Fall Dine Out! Dine in or take out from any of our participating restaurants and a portion of the proceeds will be donated back to the Wylde Center’s Decatur Farm to School program.⁠

Decatur Farm to School uses the funds donated by the restaurants to support our DHS student summer internships, conference scholarships for Decatur students and teachers, taste tests, and school garden donations, just to name a few.⁠

Take the night off and pat yourselves on the back for supporting a great cause!

Wylde Center’s Decatur Farm to School Grant Program was initiated to support the City Schools of Decatur (CSD) in their efforts to provide farm to school experiences to their faculty and students. Up to three $500 grants will be awarded to CSD schools. Each school may only receive one grant per academic year. Funds may be used for garden support, field trips, teaching experiences, and/or materials, as related to farm to school education. Grant applications for the 2023-2024 school year are now open. Your application must be received no later than September 15, 2023.

In 2013, we hosted an ad campaign contest to promote the fall sweet potato taste test. Schools across the Decatur district submitted entries. So fun. Looking through the archives, we came across this poster created by students at a City of Decatur school.
10 years later, sweet potatoes still rock.

Wylde Center is host our Spring Dine Out on March 15th benefitting our Decatur Farm to School programs.

How the Dine Out works:
Go to any of our participating restaurants (list below) during their hours of operations on Wednesday, March 15th. If ordering take out please order directly through the restaurant. A portion of the proceeds from your order will be donated back to Wylde Center.
Money raised from this event goes directly to our Decatur Farm to School Program these funds help support our Decatur High School student summer internships, Decatur kitchen staff training, conference scholarships for Decatur students and teachers, taste tests, school garden donations and so much more!
