Unity Christian School

Last week I (Mr. Salefski) had the privilege of escorting 13 of our students on a trip to Europe. Some highlights include, various castles in Germany, Salzburg Austria, Colmar France, quick stop in Liechtenstein, Lucerne Switzerland, and a very moving visit to Dachau Concentration Camp. The students got to experience many different cultures and learn history of each of these areas. The food was amazing (best eclair I've ever eaten in France), friendships were formed, and lives were changed.

As Camp Invention came to an end this week, we were reminded how good it is to hear children’s laughter in the hallways. To see such fun and joy while learning. We know they had such a great week with some of the best teachers ♥️🖤🤍🦁

Dear Unity Families,


When I started at Unity, I was asked several questions for a profile that would be shared with the school community, including: What is your favorite Bible verse? Instead of a single verse, I chose the story of the Wedding at Cana, Christ’s first miracle. I have always been interested in the exchange between Jesus and Mary, his reticence (“I am not yet ready”) and Mary’s confidence, saying to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Like any parent, Mary knows what her son is capable of doing. Unlike any other parent, she knows what it means for him and for all of us.


I have been thinking about this miracle again this week, transforming water into wine, gifts that sustain us, gifts that save the best for last. In this moment of need at Unity, donations have already started coming in, and it has filled my heart to bursting.


Several staff members and their families have donated, confident in the school and its vision going forward. A church member announced at a meeting, “I want to be the first to donate $1,000.” This morning, as I prepared this newsletter, the mail arrived with a check from a longtime friend of the school. This week, I spoke with another church member who dropped off a check at school.

“I’m sorry it couldn’t be more,” she said. “I know it’s only a drop in the bucket.”

“This is how we fill up buckets,” I said. “Drop by drop.”


Please consider joining these supporters. We do this–as we do most good things–together and with God’s transforming gifts.


The Board and I continue to work on improvements for the school: financial, cultural, and academic. We have some exciting developments to share over the next few weeks. Please know, we will see you all in the fall with a school that is better than ever.

"I wanted to give Lukas some overdue recognition. Lukas is not only winning on the tennis court, he is a leader, captain and great role model for others. In the past three years of playing for the Maroa Forsyth/Unity tennis team, he has won 72 singles and doubles matches — an amazing accomplishment and the only player in our program's history to win that many matches. His overall record as of today is 72-26, winning 73 percent of his matches. He is stellar on the court and in school. I wish we had more Lukas’s in the world.
