BCA is proud to be bringing this new gymnasium to life for Hartselle City Schools. Designed for more than athletics, this versatile space will also serve as a hub for performances, assemblies and school-wide events.

The gym features motorized folding basketball goals, volleyball equipment, a synthetic sports floor, protective wall padding, acoustic panels, a performance stage and integrated technology. Behind the finished surfaces, sound-attenuating walls and impact-resistant materials add durability and functionality for years to come.

From what you see to what you don’t, careful planning, coordination and craftsmanship go into every detail.

🏗️ Project Update: Carrie Matthews Recreation Center

Built in 1968, the Carrie Matthews Recreation Center is undergoing a major renovation that will give this longtime community facility a fresh start for years to come.

Work is well underway, including extensive improvements to address settlement and cracking in portions of the existing floors and interior walls. High-density polyurethane resin was injected beneath sections of the concrete slab to fill voids, stabilize the foundation and raise areas of the floor where needed.

Inside the gymnasium, the existing floor has been completely excavated to make way for new engineered fill, a new concrete slab and a new wood gym floor. The finished space will also feature all-new basketball and volleyball equipment.

Throughout the building, renovations will include new flooring, doors, HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.

There’s a lot happening from the ground up at Carrie Matthews, and we’re proud to be part of giving this important community space new life. Stay tuned as the transformation continues!

📊 WE’RE HIRING | Experienced Bookkeeper

BCA General Contractors is growing, and we’re looking for an Experienced Bookkeeper to join our team!

This is a full-time, office-based position responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of our company.

We’re looking for someone who is experienced, dependable, detail-oriented and highly organized with a strong understanding of accounting practices and a commitment to accuracy.

What you’ll do:
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end closing
• Complete monthly bank reconciliations
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable entries
• Process weekly payroll and related transactions
• Prepare and file monthly, quarterly and annual payroll taxes
• Prepare W-2s and 1099s
• Prepare and file consumer use tax
• Prepare annual city business licenses and personal property tax returns
• Assist with financial compliance and internal/external audits
• Manage new hire paperwork, E-Verify and Alabama New Hire reporting
• Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned

What we’re looking for:
• 2+ years of progressive job cost accounting experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel
• Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills
• A professional attitude and the ability to represent BCA in a positive manner
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or a related field preferred

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (1-hour lunch)
