The open hours at the Chelsea Public Library are changing to our Summer Schedule starting on Saturday, June 20th 2026!

We will be open 9am - 5pm on Monday, Wednesday, Tuesday, and Friday

9am - 8pm on Thursday

And 10am - 1pm on Saturday

These hours will reflect both the Adult and Children's Departments.

As a reminder, public restrooms and public computer access end for the day 15 minutes before closing time. Our book drop is always available for late night book returns as well!

These hours are in effect till early September, thank you!

As a reminder, the Chelsea Public Library will be closed Friday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth!

We will reopen Saturday, June 20th with the first day of our summer schedule - 10am-1pm, thank you!

Unveiling of the Lewis H. Latimer Collection

The Chelsea Public Library is pleased to invite you, on behalf of The Lewis H. Latimer Society, to the unveiling of the Lewis H. Latimer Collection.

The Lewis H. Latimer Society has generously donated a collection of artifacts that will be displayed at the Chelsea Public Library. We invite you to join us on June 23 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM for a first look at this special exhibit and an opportunity to learn more about the life and legacy of Lewis H. Latimer.

Also please note that the library will be closed for regular business and all attendees must enter through the side entrance on Marlborough Street, as the front gate will be locked.

We look forward to welcoming you for this special occasion and celebrating the contributions of Lewis H. Latimer.

Gearing up for our 2026 Summer Reading program - Plant a Seed, Read!

Join us on Saturday, June 20th at 11:00am to kick off our teen / adult programing by coming to decorate a brick like a book!

We will be using the bricks to decorate our garden this summer, at the library.

This program is beginner friendly, no experience needed and is intended for teens and adults.

Open Game Play for Teens and Tweens at the Chelsea Public Library!

Like to game by yourself or with others?
Want to try out other consoles you don't have at home, or demo different games?

Join us on Tuesday, May 19th from 3pm-6pm for Open Game Play at the Chelsea Public Library!

Teens can experience game play with a Nintendo Switch - Nintendo Switch 2, Playstation 5, XBox One, Oculus Quest VR, and more!

Can't make this session? Join us on Thursday, June 11th from 3pm-6pm!

The Chelsea Public Library and other Chelsea municipal buildings including City Hall, and the Chelsea Senior Center, will be closed on Monday, April 20, 2026, in observance of Patriots’ Day.

Celebrate National Garlic Day - April 19, 2026 - by trying a new garlic infused recipe! Stop by the library and pick up a cook book for some inspiration. 🧄📚

In Celebration of Women's History Month, we are hosting an AI Literacy Workshop by women for women!

Join us on Saturday, March 21 at 2:00pm - 3:30 PM to participate in this introductory workshop.

We hope that attendees will walk away with:
• A better understanding of AI bias, misinformation, and ethical considerations
• Practical, hands-on guidance on using AI tools responsibly
• Improved confidence to engage with emerging technology

This free workshop is presented by BrainLoopAI - an initiative cofounded by Surbhi & Nimisha, Data and AI professionals with over 40 years of combined industry experience. As MIT alums and executive consultants, they've worked with Fortune 50 companies. Their initiative's goal is to promote responsible AI literacy for high schoolers, adults, and seniors, helping communities engage with AI confidently and ethically.
