A member of the Florida Atlantic University community since 2002, Dean Dukes has served the College in numerous faculty and leadership roles, most recently as Interim Dean since July 2025. Throughout his career, he has been a dedicated advocate for our students, faculty and staff and a champion for educational opportunity, research and community engagement.

As Dean, he will lead the College into its next chapter, building on our commitment to preparing educators, counselors, clinicians, researchers and educational leaders while strengthening the impact of our programs, research and partnerships.

We are excited to celebrate this moment with Dean Dukes and look forward to what’s ahead for the College of Education.

FAU Foundation Raises $70M in 2026 Fiscal Year - FAU Foundation, Inc. The Florida Atlantic University Foundation (FAUF) raised more than $70 million from nearly 10,000 donors at the close of the 2026 fiscal year, marking one of the top five fundraising totals in the university’s history.

The FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute has received a $250,000 gift from the Betty Wold Johnson Foundation to develop a mangrove restoration project at Harbor Branch.

Establishing the mangrove project will span a year-long period. The first phase will add tanks and infrastructure to house mangrove plants, as well as salt marsh grass and halophytes, salt-loving plants that live in nearshore areas. Scientists will then develop propagation strategies to grow healthy plants, reintroduce the plants at identified pilot sites, and track their growth.

Florida Atlantic has named Josh McCowan as its new Vice President and Director of Athletics.

An accomplished and respected college athletics administrator with proven fundraising and revenue generation success, McCowan brings more than 15 years of high-level collegiate athletics experience to Boca Raton that has included stints at Mississippi State University, Kansas State University and University of Colorado.

Florida Atlantic University's College of Business advanced to No. 18 in the top 20 schools for online MBA programs, according to The Princeton Review, up from No. 36 the previous year.

The ranking places FAU among a select group of business schools recognized nationally for academic excellence, student satisfaction, career outcomes, and program quality.
