Our family is on the cover of Country Living! 🧡🍁 I still can’t quite believe it.

I grew up coming to New Hampshire’s White Mountains, and when our growing family could no longer fit into my parents’ cabin, Sarah and I found a place nearby to keep everyone together. We’ve spent the years since making it our own, one stone wall and flower bed at a time—with perhaps a few too many pumpkins along the way.

Every October, friends and family fill every bed, bunk, and spare patch of floor. Everyone brings a pot of soup, and everyone has to wear flannel (there’s a basket of extras for anyone who forgets). We pick pumpkins, make my mom’s pumpkin margaritas, and stay by the fire long after dark, telling the same old stories under blankets that smell like woodsmoke.

Each year, we take a big group photograph for the cabin wall. This year, we’ll have a magazine cover to hang beside it. 🧡

I’m sharing some favorite photographs from the story, along with a little of the pumpkin-hauling behind the scenes. Thank you to the wonderful Country Living team for capturing what this place means to our family, and to all of you for sharing so many autumns with us. Having these memories—with Harry at this age and the dogs right there beside him—in print is something Sarah and I will always treasure.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend and a little time to enjoy the fruits of their labor. We enjoyed a few straight from the garden, turning our tomatoes into homemade sauce, with fishing off the dock and time on the boat in between.

Our wonderful friends, the Royces, brought friends together for a beautiful end-of-summer party and back home, we gathered the family for a Labor Day lobster-bake luau. Harry learned to hula, the dogs kept a close eye on dinner and we got to squeeze a little more summer out of September.

We went from dressed up to barefoot, but the best part was always the same: spending time with the people we love. It was the perfect weekend to slow down and appreciate our friends, family, pets, and this life we get to share. ❤️
