Austin Swing Syndicate

This Thursday, April 16, our dance will be held at the Cherrywood Center (1605 E 38th 1/2 St). Join us for drop-in classes, a Jazz Jam side room, and social dancing until midnight!

Regular admission: $5 for Swing Syndicate members and $8 for non-members. As always, sustaining members are "prepaid" - thank you for supporting our community!

7:30 pm: Doors open (see map for suggested street parking)
8:00pm: Intermediate Swing ($7 with admission)
8:15 pm: Intro to Swing (included with admission)
9:00 pm: Social dancing until midnight
9:15 pm: Jazz Jam in the side room

Note: There will be no Balboa, Collegiate S**g or Lindy Hop classes on this night. Classes and dances will resume on April 23 at the TFWC Mansion.

Board candidate Ari Frankel has withdrawn their candidacy. Since the number of remaining candidates matches the number of available seats, the 2026 board election has come to an early close.

"I've decided to pull out from the race. The Election Town Hall was illuminating for me.

Seeing the room full of people whose livelihoods and/or sense of community in Austin rely heavily on the Austin Swing Syndicate, I came to a clearer understanding of the responsibility of board membership and the tasks laid out for the upcoming term. I think this task is better left to other folks who are more deeply embedded in the community and more time-resourced to give this job the attention and effort that our community needs.

I believe my impact will be greater through continued volunteering than as a board member. Additionally, there will still be opportunities for me to contribute to the cross-pollination/recruitment with the country dancing scene without having a seat at the board.
