Happy Juneteenth!

On this day in 1865, African-American slaves were told that they had been set free.
As we remember our past, let us also protect our future. Together, we can build a future where racism is eradicated, diversity is celebrated, and all individuals have equal opportunities to thrive.

Happy Father’s Day!

“What I’ve realized is that life doesn’t count for much unless you’re willing to
do your small part to leave our children — all of our children — a better world.
Any fool can have a child. That doesn’t make you a father. It’s the courage
to raise a child that makes you a father.”
President Barack Obama

Let us take a moment today amidst the cookouts and the fellowship to honor those that have fought and fallen for our freedom.  🙏

Here are five interesting facts about Memorial Day:
    •    Memorial Day began as Decoration Day.
    •    Decoration Day only recognized fallen soldiers of the Civil War until World War I.
    •    Memorial Day was not an official holiday until 1968.
    •    Memorial Day is one of the few days flags are ordered to fly at half-staff then full-staff.
1968.
    •    Memorial Day and Veterans Day are not the same. Memorial Day honors those who died while serving their country whereas Veterans Day celebrates all who have served throughout history. Additionally, a third holiday, Armed Forces Day, recognizes those who are currently serving.

In solemn remembrance.

Happy Kwanzaa.
is an annual week-long celebration honoring Black history and culture. The holiday celebrates seven values in African culture:

1. Umoja (unity)
2. Kujichagulia (self-determination)
3. Ujima (collective work and responsibility)
4. Ujamaa (cooperative economics)
5. Nia (purpose)
6. Kuumba (creativity)
7. Imani (faith)

We hope that you will take time to reflect on each of the seven values this week and throughout the year.
