Romanian deep tech made its BSDA debut this year — 14 startups have been selected to meet experts from 36 countries at the region's largest defense and aerospace fair!

Behind it was a partnership sealed at Cotroceni Palace, initiated as the President's proposal and carried in parteneship with TNT Romania. A big thank you to the Black Sea Defense & Aerospace - BSDA Exhibition & Conference organisers and to Administrația Prezidențială a României!

CyberSwarm, Inc. just announced a $50M Series A from Falanga Invest, a major milestone for Romanian deep tech.

Mihai Raneti and his team have spent nearly a decade building a neuromorphic processor that runs AI algorithms directly at the hardware level, without cloud or internet connectivity, but with analog methods that mimic how the brain processes information.🧠

That kind of architecture has real implications across automotive, industrial robotics, medical devices, and IoT.

The fact that the R&D behind it happened in Ploiești and București makes it matter even more for where this ecosystem is heading.

Our alumni DesignVerse raises $5.5M to modernise legacy enterprise software! 🚀

Andrei, Robert and the entire DesignVerse team — thank you for showing what an outstanding vision and the capacity to pivot and adapt can build! 🙌

DesignVerse develops AI-powered infrastructure for organisations operating complex software environments across sectors such as aviation, finance, cybersecurity and government. Their platform helps enterprises bridge the gap between design and engineering teams by reducing manual translation and allowing them to generate functional enterprise applications.

A telling proof point: their platform modernised a 15-year-old EUROCONTROL application in just over a month — a process that would have taken an estimated six months through conventional methods. ✈️

The round was backed by Begin Capital, GapMinder VC, and Underline Ventures, alongside strategic angel investors from Adobe, LSEG, and UiPath. 💰

Cornel Amariei built dotLumen - Empowering the Blind with a team of 30 — engineers, scientists, disability experts — starting from a research question about what the world looks like when you can't see it. 👓
The answer became the first smart glasses designed for the mobility of the blind, and in 2021, a 9M euro grant from the European Innovation Council.

Now Cornel is among the top 10 young innovators in the world, in a cohort that has previously included Elon Musk. 🌍

Cornel Amariei, a young Romanian entrepreneur and engineer, has been named among the top 10 young innovators in the world, receiving a distinction previously awarded to global figures such as Elon Musk — a remarkable recognition of both talent and perseverance. 🌍✨

Born into a family where both of his parents were hearing impaired, Cornel grew up closely connected to the challenges faced by people with disabilities. This personal experience became the foundation of his mission: to create technology that improves lives.

He went on to develop smart glasses designed to assist visually impaired individuals, a solution that uses advanced technology to help users better understand and navigate their surroundings, offering greater independence and confidence in daily life.

His journey — from a young Romanian passionate about technology to an internationally recognized innovator — reflects determination, empathy, and a clear vision for impact.

This achievement highlights Romania’s growing presence in innovation with purpose, where technology is not only advanced, but also deeply human. 🚀
