We hit the 35 on Tuesday, destination Ruatoria for the Big Shout Out lunch, in recognition and acknowledgement of our Tairāwhiti volunteers!
We had a great turnout including volunteers from fire brigades and local rugby clubs and many more who freely give their time for their community.
Huge thanks to Aunty Katherine (who also is a keen volunteer) at the Ruatoria RSA who not only delivered on the epic kai but spread the word throughout the community!
Also a huge mihi to everyone who helped out on Tuesday. Your mahi was massive❤️
To all our volunteers, the whole length and breadth of Te Tairāwhiti, ngā mihi nui!
We see that giving back is just the done thing on the Coast and your love for your community is palpable.
Thank you for having us!
We’ll see you all again soon.

- coaching, managing and refereeing sports teams
- organising school or community fundraising
- conservation activities such as stream clean-ups
- board of trustees and committee members
- volunteering for organisations eg. opshops
- emergency volunteering
And so much more!
Tuesday’s Big Shout Out morning tea is still happily on our minds as we roll into our next events throughout the region. The Gisborne RSA was the perfect central venue and the delicious catering from The Forces Cafe went down a treat.
We were honoured to have Mayor Rehette Stoltz, Deputy Mayor Josh Wharehinga and Councillor Debbie Gregory in attendance and Erica and Kay representing Dana Kirkpatrick MP for the East Coast.
But it really was all about our wonderful volunteers. Many shared their volunteering stories with us and said that making friends and helping others have been the main highlights of their volunteering journey.
Thank you volunteers!
If you want to share your volunteer story come see us in Treble Court.
We hope to see many more volunteers next week when we’re in Tolaga Bay (Friday 28th) and Matawai (Sunday 30th).

For a job description please email [email protected] or call 0220809519 with any questions.
Applications close 27th June.
Wow, what a morning! Thank you again to the volunteers who braved the weather to join us for morning tea. It was inspiring to be in a room with so many who freely give to their communities.
