Danika and Sienna spent this past weekend at Camp Ignite, getting an incredible firsthand look at the many different skills and challenges that come with a career in the fire service.

Proudly sponsored by Maple Ridge Fire Rescue, they took part in a wide range of hands-on training, including auto extrication, hose operations, first aid, technical rescue, fire extinguishers, forcible entry and car fire.... just to name a few!

One of our own members was also there throughout the weekend, helping instruct and mentor participants along the way.

A huge thank you to Burnaby Fire Department, Vancouver Fire Rescue Services and the Justice Institute of British Columbia for helping make Camp Ignite such a valuable experience.

Weโ€™re proud to support opportunities like this and even more proud of Danika and Sienna for representing Maple Ridge Fire Rescue so well!

Wildland Update #4

Another crew switch is underway as Maple Ridge Fire Rescue members continue to support wildfire operations across the province. Our returning members made their way home last night, with a fresh crew stepping in to continue the work.

We also want to recognize Deputy Chief Bryan Vinje, who recently returned from a deployment in the Boston Bar area, where he served as a Task Force Leader. Deputy Chief Vinje brings an incredible amount of knowledge, experience and leadership to everything he does, and we are extremely proud to see those skills put to use while supporting wildfire operations across the province. He continues to be a tremendous resource and leader within Maple Ridge Fire Rescue, and we are proud to have him representing our department beyond our community.

Even while members are deployed across the province, our commitment to Maple Ridge does not change. Our crews at home continue to be busy responding to emergencies, protecting our community and ensuring Maple Ridge remains fully supported 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are incredibly proud of the members serving both here at home and across British Columbia.

Wildland Update #3

Happy BC Day!

While many in our community are enjoying time with family and friends, our members continue to answer the call beyond our community.

Today, our crew supporting wildfire operations in the Clinton area completed another crew switch-up, ensuring continued support for communities impacted by wildfire. We are proud of the commitment and dedication our members have shown while away from home, working alongside other agencies and crews from across the province.

Back home, A Platoon is on duty today and throughout the night, continuing to provide emergency response and protect our community 24/7.

We want to thank our community for the incredible support and appreciation shown to our members. Your messages, encouragement, and understanding mean a great deal to our crews and their families.

From our family to yours, we wish everyone a safe and happy BC Day. While you enjoy today, know that our members remain ready to serve whenever they are needed.

We're excited to welcome the community back for one of our favourite summer traditions!

Join your Maple Ridge Fire Fighters on Wednesday, August 12, from 6:00โ€“8:00 PM at Fire Hall 4 for an evening of family fun. Explore our fire trucks, meet your local firefighters, learn more about fire safety, and enjoy a fun summer evening with family, friends, and neighbours.

We're grateful that recent changes to local water restrictions have made it possible to bring Hot Summer Nights back. We also appreciate everyone's understanding that, if water restrictions are reinstated before the event, we may need to cancel.

Wildfire Operations Update #2

Since first deploying on July 17, our original four member engine crew supported wildfire operations in the Pemberton area. Earlier this week, two members returned home, while the remaining two members transitioned from an engine crew assignment to a tender crew assignment and made their way to the Clinton area to continue supporting wildfire operations.

After over a week of assisting communities impacted by wildfire, those two members returned home yesterday. Two new Maple Ridge Fire Rescue members arrived to replace them and continue supporting wildfire operations up in Clinton.

We are proud of their commitment and willingness to step up wherever they are needed. Our members continue to answer the call beyond our community, helping protect and support British Columbians when they need it most.

On Saturday at Maple Ridge Park, our members were proud to stand alongside Stephen Rysen for the annual Run, Walk & Roll in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

We're incredibly proud of the work Stephen continues to do for the muscular dystrophy community and congratulate him on being named this year's recipient of the Hope in Action Community Award. A well-deserved honour, and we're proud to support this amazing event each year.

Maple Ridge Fire Rescue is proud to sponsor Danika and Sienna as they head to Camp Ignite this August.

Camp Ignite gives young women the opportunity to gain hands-on experience, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and explore what a career in the fire service can look like.

Throughout the weekend, they'll learn from and be mentored by female firefighters from departments across British Columbia who volunteer their time to inspire and support the next generation of women in the fire service.

We wish Danika and Sienna an incredible Camp Ignite experience!

This morning, four members of Maple Ridge Fire Rescue were deployed to Pemberton to assist with structure protection efforts as wildfire activity continues to impact communities across British Columbia.

When they woke up this morning, they didn't know they would be leaving their families and deploying for up to two weeks. But when the call came, they answered without hesitation.

Our members are proud to stand alongside fire departments and emergency response partners from across the province, helping protect homes, critical infrastructure, and communities threatened by wildfire.

We wish our members a safe deployment and thank them and their families for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to serving wherever they are needed.

Please join us in wishing them a safe deployment and keeping all firefighters, first responders, and those affected by these wildfires in your thoughts.
