East Ridge Farms

The are looking great! We have done the first hilling and it’s looking like we’ll need to do a second hilling soon! The are up! The is now officially set up as our grow room and I’m busily sprouting , and other veggies. Also, been busy prepping beds for direct seeding. Lots to do!!!

The sure likes the rain! Was thinking I might have to irrigate (ran the lines) but the rain showed up just in time! Lets hope that hot spell wasn’t too hot for the garlic! The garlic doesn’t like when temps get close to 30*C early in the growing season.

The fence is up and first succession of peas are planted. A little later than I’d like but 🤷🏻‍♀️.

It’s great when you pound the first few posts in and it feels easy cuz you’ve been keeping up with your workouts 💪. I highly recommend doing some kind of cross training (weightlifting/callisthenics/stretching/etc) to prep your body for a busy farm season and avoid all sorts of farm/garden related soreness/injury.

The soil is calling…. The rains passed, we got a few sunny days and now everything is waking up… especially the weeds! Managed to get out on the farm and clean, de-weed and cover a few rows before the weeds really took hold. Will be continuing to get rows de-weeded and prepped for planting over the next few weeks. Also planing on starting some seeds, setting up the pea fence and if the weather stays dry… planting potatoes! The season is officially kicking off!

The garlic survived the rain! It was definitely not happy about it, but it made it! Thank goodness we plant our garlic in raised beds!

The is looking 👌. It’s growing a little more quickly than I’d like for this time of year. The soil is looking a little soggy & compressed. Still dissappointed I didn’t manage to get mulch on the row for winter. Not looking forward to the weeds.
