Running Workshop 📅 Thursday June 11th @7:00pm
Most people think the best thing to do when starting running is to jump right in — run hard, run far, and try to progress as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, that’s also where we see the majority of injuries occur.
Running is a high impact sport that places a significant amount of stress on the muscles, tendons, joints, and cardiovascular system. Just because running is accessible and doesn’t require a team, gym, or fancy equipment doesn’t mean you get to skip the preparation that every other sport demands.
Slowing down, keeping runs easy, incorporating walking, and gradually increasing volume may feel “too easy” at first, but this is exactly what creates long term progress. Patience early on is what allows you to run more later.

How long have you been at LP?
➡️ I’ve been with LP for a few months and have loved every minute of it so far!
What is your fitness goal?
➡️ My main goal is to sustainably rebuild after taking a year hiatus from competing in powerlifting and endurance sports.
Are you working on anything currently?
➡️ Right now I’m focused on rebuilding strength, improving movement quality, and getting back into a consistent training rhythm.
Which LP classes do you teach?
➡️ The main classes I’ll be teaching are Wednesday Strength with the 7am and 8am crews. That said, I love being around the community and jumping into some of the other classes during the week!
What’s your current favourite workout song that gets you fired up?
➡️ One of my favourite songs of all time is Closer to the Edge by Thirty Seconds to Mars… buuuut I’ll shamelessly admit I’m still obsessed with Bet On It from High School Musical 2 :)
What’s something people might not know about you?
➡️ I used to be known as the “sporty musician” because I’d show up to band rehearsal in my sports uniform before rushing off to a match.

Consistency turns occasional good days into a signal your body can actually trust and respond to. Muscle growth, fat loss, and metabolic improvements happen when your body is nudged in the same direction often enough. Miss too many opportunities and progress could stall.
When workouts, meals, and sleep are repeatable, you can create clear data. That means you can spot patterns, make smart adjustments and stop guessing.

When it comes to getting the most out of your training, when you eat can be just as impactful as what you eat.
Structuring your meals around your workouts helps optimize energy levels, improve performance, and support recovery so you’re not just working hard, but actually progressing. This approach breaks your nutrition into key windows throughout the day, ensuring your body is fuelled before, supported during, and properly replenished after your sessions, while still keeping the rest of your meals balanced and consistent.
How to break down meal timing around workouts:
✔️ Pre-Training Meal: 1-3 hours before training
✔️ During/Post Training Meal: 1/3 of nutrients during the workout, 2/3 within a half hour of completion or all after depending on length of workout
✔️ Post-Post Training Meal: 2-3 hours after post-workout meal
✔️ Rest of Day Meals Spread evenly within non-workout window
