Last week, we celebrated the end of the Food Security and Food Justice Edmonton (FSFJE) project with the Food Justice YEG Summit! 🎉

The day was full of incredible conversations around the future of food justice in Edmonton 👏

A highlight of the summit was the launch of the Edmonton Food Resource Map, which was designed to help people easily locate free and low-cost food resources. You can access the map at foodjusticeyeg.ca 📍

Rescuing enough good food to support a meal costs just 78 cents. Only 78 cents to ensure that a neighbour who's having trouble making ends meet will get to eat today. 🍲

We want to raise $5000 before July 1. That's more than 9000 meals for people who need them.

Each Rescue Food route is a story about our connection, rooted in the belief that good food should never be wasted. Last week, we held our Leftovers Laughs fundraiser with Rumor's Comedy Club. Rumor's does great work supporting organizations and individuals in Winnipeg, and we are so fortunate to have worked with them again!

Our Winnipeg staff enjoyed a great night of comedy headlined by Benji Rothman. All of the comedians featured that evening were spectacular! It was a lovely evening in community, and we were especially touched by Benji's generosity, who donated a portion of his merch proceeds from the evening to Leftovers.

Every day, Rescue Food volunteers make the connection between service agencies supporting hungry people and local food vendors who want to keep good food out of the trash.
