💼📊 From accounting figures to real business value.

We were pleased to welcome Anush Grigoryan, CFO of the Central Bank of Armenia, for the first session of our CaseKey 2026 finance training: “Decoding Value — From Accounting to Real Value.”

Together, participants moved beyond simply reading financial statements and explored the financial logic behind important management decisions: Does the value created exceed the value spent? 💡

During the session, we discussed:

📈 Net Present Value (NPV) and how it helps assess whether an investment creates value
💰 Free Cash Flow (FCF) and why cash flow can reveal more than accounting profit alone
⚖️ The relationship between risk and return
🌍 The yield curve as a tool for interpreting market expectations and macroeconomic signals
🧮 Practical financial modelling and scenario testing in Excel

📝 Session 7 of the CaseKey Academy 2026 Investment Track focused on turning investment ideas into a clear, disciplined, and actionable strategy.

We were pleased to welcome back Vazgen Tadevosyan, Head of the Licensing Division at the Central Bank of Armenia, for a session dedicated to writing the Investment Policy Statement (IPS). 🤝

An IPS is more than a required Competition document. It is the framework that connects a portfolio manager’s client mandate, investment philosophy, risk limits, portfolio approach, benchmark, and decision-making process.

During the session, participants worked through the key elements of a strong IPS:

🎯 Defining a clear investment objective
🧭 Establishing an investment philosophy and long-term approach
⚖️ Setting a practical risk-management framework
📊 Declaring and justifying a benchmark
📉 Writing measurable exit criteria
📝 Identifying the difference between vague intentions and decisions that can be tested

The session reinforced an essential principle: professional investors define their strategy before they invest—not after results are known.

Participants will now prepare their complete IPS drafts ahead of the final Clinic and Dry Run session, where they will receive peer feedback before submitting the final version.
