Earlier this year Amaris Kirchner, grade 5 learner of Gracehill College along with a group of gymnasts from George were selected to compete in two international gymnastics competitions in Portugal🇵🇹.

She will be representing the Madiba RSA team in the Scalabis Cup and Coimbra Cup from 3rd July to 14 July 2024.

Amaris has worked so hard to get here and is very excited about being not only an ambassador of Gracehill College and George, but also an ambassador of her country.

📢 Calling all plant enthusiasts! 🌿🌺 Our grade 5 class at Gracehill College is embarking on an exciting experiment to test the effect of pollution on plants. 🌱🚫

🔬 Hypothesis: Pollution will stunt the growth of plants. 🌿📉

Our young scientists have chosen different types of pollution and substances to add to their plants. Here are the variables they are exploring:

🌬️ Air Pollution: Doom
🌱 Soil Pollution: Plant food, Plastic, Salt
💧 Water Pollution: Chlorine/Jik, Caustic soda

Twice a week, the children are carefully watering their plants and adding their chosen pollution. 🚿 They will observe and document any changes over the next three weeks. 📝

To ensure accuracy, each type of pollution also has a control plant that receives only water, with no additional substances added. This allows for a comparison between the effects of pollution and the normal growth of plants. 🌿🔍

After the three weeks, our young scientists will evaluate their findings and write a comprehensive report. 📄 They will determine whether their observations support or refute the hypothesis. 🌱📊
