Pumpkin Pool-ooza is always popular, so be sure to register early if you’d like to go. Swimming, pumpkins, decorating, and Halloween fun sounds like a pretty great combination! 🎃🏊‍♀️

Pumpkin Pool-ooza is back!

Our pumpkin patch will officially go off the deep end on Saturday, October 3! Come fish out your perfect pumpkin from our floating patch in the Recreation Center Leisure Pool, 4005 Kipling St. We are offering two time slots for the event: 10:15 - 11:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. - 1 p.m. Enjoy seasonal treats, groove to music, decorate your pumpkin, and take in the festive Halloween and fall decorations. Get ready for an incredible time for all ages!

*Everyone entering the pool area for this event must be registered. Anyone not registered will not be permitted to enter the leisure pool area or participate in the event. All swimmers aged 5 or younger must have a registered adult in the water within arm’s reach. Swimmers aged 6-11 must have a registered adult in the pool area.

We’re so sad to see one of our wonderful neighbors closing their doors. ❤️

Our friends at Mestizo will be closing permanently on August 31, 2026. Their family has put so much time, heart, and hard work into creating a great neighborhood spot and being part of the Wheat Ridge community.

If you can, please stop by over these last few days, grab a meal, show them some love, and help send them off on a high note. Supporting our local businesses matters, especially during a time when running a small restaurant has become increasingly difficult.

💛Our beloved Mestizo Fam— this announcement is a hard one to put into words, as we wish it wasn’t true, but this will be Mestizo’s final week serving this incredible Wheat Ridge community.

There is nothing more we can do to prevent this… Due to a legal battle with our landlord which we can’t win, we are closing our doors.

Our last day open to the public will be this Monday 8/31. We look forward to enjoying these last days doing what we love; serving and being with our beautiful gente. So, get your b***y on over here for some Mestizo tacos, brews, margs and lots of hugs.

We have some sad news to share from WRLA today. 💙🦞

Bluecifer, our Electric Blue Lobster, passed away today. He was such a fun and unique little part of our center, and the kids loved getting to watch him and learn about him.

We know many of our children will be sad to hear the news. Bluecifer brought lots of curiosity, conversations, and smiles to our classrooms, and he will definitely be missed.

Rest easy, Bluecifer. 💙🌈🦞

On Sunday, Sept 27, from 12 - 2 p.m., the City of Wheat Ridge will host the Wheat Ridge Longer Table at The Green at 38th. This community meal will bring 300 residents together to share food, conversation, and new connections as part of the statewide 150 Tables Across Colorado initiative celebrating Colorado's 150th anniversary.

The event is made possible through partnerships with local businesses, Localworks, faith organizations, community leaders, and volunteers. Intermountain Health Lutheran Hospital is serving as the title sponsor, and Esters at Gold's Marketplace is a premier sponsor. Advance registration is required. Our WRLA family has always been built on caring for one another, both inside and outside our classrooms.

Many of you know our Assistant Director, Angie, who has been a dedicated part of Wheat Ridge Learning Academy for 11 years. This week, Angie and her family experienced the unimaginable when they lost their home and belongings in a devastating fire.

Several families have asked how they can help, so with Angie's permission, we're sharing her GoFundMe. If you're in a position to donate, every contribution, no matter the size, will help her family begin rebuilding. If you're unable to give, simply sharing the fundraiser would also mean so much.

At Wheat Ridge Learning Academy, we are deeply saddened by the loss of Dominick Breton.

We are grateful for all he did to strengthen the community our children are growing up in. His impact will continue to be felt for generations through the relationships he built and the example he set.

We are thrilled to finally announce a one-of-a-kind addition to our spring program at Chatfield Reservoir! Starting next week, WRLA is officially launching our inaugural Infant Shark Surfing sessions! 🦈🏄‍♂️

We believe it’s never too early to build confidence in the water, or to make friends with the ocean's (and the reservoir's...) most misunderstood predators. Our certified "Shark-Toddler" instructors will guide your little ones as they catch some freshwater wakes on the backs of our specially trained Great Whites.

Program Highlights:
* Ages: 6 months to 2 years (must be able to hold a surfboard upright).
* Gear: Miniature wetsuits and "chum-scented" sunscreen provided.
* Safety: Each shark has been taught the "gentle fin" technique.

Spaces are extremely limited and filling up fast! If you want your baby to be the coolest ripper at the reservoir, drop a "SHARK" in the comments for registration details! 🌊👶
