We are thrilled to finally announce a one-of-a-kind addition to our spring program at Chatfield Reservoir! Starting next week, WRLA is officially launching our inaugural Infant Shark Surfing sessions! 🦈🏄‍♂️

We believe it’s never too early to build confidence in the water, or to make friends with the ocean's (and the reservoir's...) most misunderstood predators. Our certified "Shark-Toddler" instructors will guide your little ones as they catch some freshwater wakes on the backs of our specially trained Great Whites.

Program Highlights:
* Ages: 6 months to 2 years (must be able to hold a surfboard upright).
* Gear: Miniature wetsuits and "chum-scented" sunscreen provided.
* Safety: Each shark has been taught the "gentle fin" technique.

Wheat Ridge Learning Academy is looking to hire new Early Childhood Teachers and Teacher's Assistants to join our team. We have both full and part time positions available in our toddler and preschool classrooms and can be flexible on schedules. College and high school students are encouraged to apply!

Physical requirements – Must be able to stand, kneel, occasionally lift children, sit criss-cross-applesauce, and play duck duck goose.

Personal requirements: We are looking for someone who shows up at work on time and with a smile on their face. Bringing your co-workers donuts is optional but will make you popular fast. Sense of humor is a huge plus, we like to have fun at work! Grouchy grumps need not apply.

New Continuous Flow Intersections are opening on 38th and 44th!

In anticipation of opening Wadsworth Boulevard's new intersection layout at both 38th Avenue and 44th Avenue later this fall, Wheat Ridge introduces FAQ Fridays! Each Friday, a new frequently asked question regarding continuous flow intersections (CFIs) will be answered.

Q: What is a Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI)?

A: A CFI is an innovative intersection design that changes the way left turns are made. Instead of waiting in the middle of the intersection, drivers making left turns will cross over before reaching the main intersection, guided by traffic signals and signs.

Just wanted to share an update for those who’ve been following Peter Arguello’s case.

Charles Shay was found guilty on all charges yesterday in connection with Peter’s murder, which happened in 2023.

Peter meant a lot to this community, and I know many of us considered him a friend.

Security footage from our center, along with footage from several of our neighbors and the building owner, was used during the trial and played a key role in securing the conviction.

The trial for the second man involved, Michael McCormack, is scheduled to begin on August 22nd.

Thank you to the Wheat Ridge Police Department and the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office for their work on this case and to everyone who has continued to support Peter’s family and keep his memory present. Justice is moving forward.

Wheat Ridge Learning Academy has a rare opening available now in our Infants Program for an infant between the ages of 6 weeks - 8 months old. (The waitlist is typically 18 months out).

Tuition includes drop off and pick up anytime during business hours (7:30 am - 5:30 pm) and meals once your child is eating table foods. We use the BrightWheel app so parents have real-time access to their child's daily report.

We are a Qualistar rated center, participate in UPK as well as several quality improvement grants which provide our teachers with high quality coaching from outside resources.

We were one of only 2 schools in Colorado selected to be a pilot school for the highly reviewed Connect4Learning (C4L) preschool curriculum. C4L is a project based integrated curriculum covering math, literacy, science and social emotional skills. It includes short teacher led large group and small group activities while allowing 90 percent of the day to be child led and play based.
