Riverview Co-op’s (MI) Biennial Carnival was last Thursday, and it was a blast! Many CSI staff members, vendors, and members from other co-ops volunteered to help with the big event. A heartfelt thank you to all of the wonderful volunteers who helped make the Riverview Carnival such a memorable and enjoyable event for our members. Your time, energy, kindness, and dedication brought smiles, laughter, and meaningful connections to everyone who attended.
It was a true pleasure to see CSI’s vision play out at Riverview with (both) members (and staff!) having the opportunity to thrive while leading full, healthy social lives.
A big shout out to Sheryle Morey and her committee for planning and implementing this incredibly fun event. Leadership sets the tone.
Thank you Gina Carter for sharing pictures!
What a fun evening it was!

This is a friendly reminder that our offices will be closed tomorrow in observance of Juneteenth.
Juneteenth is a federally-recognized holiday, celebrated on June 19. Juneteenth marks the day in 1865 when enslaved people in Texas were informed of their freedom more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It is recognized as the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States and is a time to reflect on our nation’s history, honor resilience, and continue learning.
We hope you take this time to rest, reflect, and spend it in a way that is meaningful to you.
If you’d like to take a few minutes to learn more about the history and significance of Juneteenth, here is an informative video:

In honor of Memorial Day, the CSI Support offices will be closed on Monday. We will be taking time to pause and remember the fallen who bravely served our country. These brave men and women made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We will also be remembering all the families who carry that sacrifice with them every day. May our CSI family and friends enjoy a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

Many co-ops host a volunteer appreciation celebration within their co-op. South Bay Co-op (California) held their volunteer appreciation day celebration on April 30, 2026. It looks like they had great food and a fun time. Volunteers are the heart of every co-op. Send us your pics of your co-op's celebration and we will post!

It's May and that means it is Older Americans Month! The 2026 theme, Champion Your Health, focuses on prevention, wellness, and personal responsibility as cornerstones of healthy aging. It encourages taking an active role in managing your own health, advocating for yourself, accessing preventive care, and making informed decisions that support independence.
Staying active (physically, mentally, and socially) is a great way to maintain a good, quality life AND this fits right into CSI's mission: Using cooperative principles, CSI develops and manages exceptional affordable rental communities were SENIORS enjoy OPPORTUNITIES to THRIVE.
Our best advice for thriving as a senior in our co-ops: VOLUNTEER! It is election season and nomination boxes are ready for you! See your co-op officers or liaison for more information. This is a great way to stay active physically, mentally, and socially.
