Dear all,

It is with great sadness and pain to announce the passing of our member, Sylvia Collins.

Member Collins was among the victims identified following Thursday’s gas explosion at her residence in The Clyde Apartments in Oak Cliff.
This is a true loss not only for us, but also for the entire Oak Cliff Community and beyond, where she made an impact. She always had a heart to serve others and was involved in numerous organizations throughout the Dallas Area.

I also want to thank Vice President Rizo, RP who was there at the scene when the news broke to check on Ms. Sylvia and stayed into the evening, including me. We all cared for her, and this is what she would have done as well.

All of our thoughts and prayers are with all the residents affected by this tragedy, including the other two neighbors who did not make it out, Marisol and Erik Perez Jr.

For those wishing to help, the current need is monetary donations to Mission Oak Cliff. You may make a contribution on their website at missionoakcliff.org/donate. Those donations will be distributed to the families affected by the fire.

Additional information will be released through our official communication methods. We will share any funeral arrangements as we receive them.

ZOOM - Saturday, June 14, 2025, Crossroads Unit members Frances Rizo, RP and Co-Host David Pérez Hurley are instructing McAllen and Corpus Christi students on the principles of Robert's Rules of Order (RONR) today. Frances and David are collaborating to continue cultivating and working with South Texas residents to teach RONR.

The 69th Texas State Association of Parliamentarians Convention was held this weekend. Members of Crossroads Unit Amigos Omar Jimenez and Philip Ruiz went to Day at the Capitol. Thank you Rep. Richard Hayes and TSAP member for the invitation and The Texas State Association of Parliamentarians (TSAP)! We met and talked to the Democratic and Republican Parliamentarians. We got a copy of The Texas House Rules 88th Congress. It was wonderful and educational.
