This is Ozzie, our resident four legged therapist and Emotional Support Animal here on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Ozzie would like for you to know that petting a dog can lower stress by the release of oxytocin, the bonding hormone, and decrease cortisol, the stress hormone within the brain. This increases our sense of love and happiness.
In addition, petting a dog can lower your blood pressure and heart rate. Easing such distress and discomfort over time can help reduce the risk of stroke, heart disease, and heart attacks.
So take it from Ozzie, petting dogs (nice ones that is) is good for the mind, body, and soul. Go pet a dog today
