That's a real one. Jesus did say that — "If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first" (John 15:18). He wasn't sugarcoating it.

Here's what helps me: He didn't say "some will hate you if you mess it up." He said it's just part of the deal. So when it happens, it's not a sign you did something wrong — it's actually confirmation you're doing something right.

I think about Paul too. Guy got beaten, stoned, thrown in prison — and from a jail cell he wrote that all of it "helped spread the Good News" (Philippians 1:12). He didn't waste energy being bitter about the cost. He just kept going.

Now — most of us aren't getting stoned for handing someone a gospel tract. Let's be honest, in America the "hate" usually looks like an eye roll, an awkward silence, or someone unfollowing you on Facebook. 😉 It stings for a second. It's not prison.

So here's how I'd reframe it: you're not responsible for whether people like you. You're responsible for being faithful. Some will hate it. Some will actually be grateful someone finally had the guts to say something real. You don't find out which one until you open your mouth.

Starting a Spiritual Conversation (Without It Feeling Weird)

Some of you have asked how to start a conversation that can lead to Jesus. Fair question. It felt clunky for me too the first few times — it gets easier the more you do it.

Start with something ordinary.

Before anything spiritual happens, just be a normal, friendly human. Smile. Say hi. Comment on the weather, their dog, whatever's already right in front of you. You're not "launching an outreach." You're just talking to a person.

If all goes well, ask if you can pray for them.

This one's simple and disarms people fast: "Hey, is there anything going on in your life I could pray for you about?" Most people say yes — even people who aren't religious at all. It shows you actually care, and it opens the door without any pressure.

Then ease into the spiritual questions.

Once there's a little trust built, you can ask things like:

💬 "Do you ever think about spiritual things?"
💬 "What do you think happens after we die?"
💬 "Do you have a religious background?"

You're not hijacking the conversation — you're just adding a lane to a road that's already there. If they don't want to go down it, no big deal. Say "No problem, have a great day!" and leave them with a good impression.

If they do want to keep talking, now you're listening — not to be polite, but because you actually care where they're at. That's when the door to the Gospel opens.

And if you don't know an answer to something they ask? Just say so. "Great question, I don't know — let me look into it." Honesty builds more trust than a scripted answer ever will.

You're not a salesman closing a deal. You're a messenger being faithful. That's the whole job.

Pick one person this week. Smile, ask if you can pray for them, then ask a question. See what happens. 🙏

We spend plenty of time talking about what matters to us. Sports, politics, hobbies, work—even what we had for lunch. Maybe it’s time we gave Jesus the same attention and started talking about Him, too.

Being a witness means more than believing the Gospel ourselves. God calls us to lovingly share the Good News with people who need to hear it.

Everywhere Means Everywhere

Your mission field may not look very impressive. It might be your workplace, neighborhood, coffee shop, family gathering, or Facebook feed. Convenient? Maybe not. But God has people around you who need to hear about Jesus.

A Biblical Perspective:
Acts 8:4 reminds us that evangelism traveled with believers. Wherever Christians went, the gospel went with them. We can do the same—loving people, starting conversations, and pointing them to Christ.

Bible Verse — Romans 1:16 (NLT):
“For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes.”

Followers of Jesus are called to keep growing so they can encourage others and boldly share the gospel. A growing faith becomes a bright light that helps others find their way to Christ.

Bible Verse:

“And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.”

God calls us to step out and share the gospel even when we can’t see the full outcome. Like walking by faith, being a witness for Christ means trusting Him with the results while we simply show His love to those around us.
