Caring for a family member or friend at home is a full-time commitment. Viability's Adult Family Care (AFC) program is built around that reality.

Eligible caregivers receive a tax-free monthly stipend of up to $1,650, ongoing training, monthly nursing support, and a care manager who stays involved throughout.

The person you care for gets to stay home, in the community, with someone they trust.

AFC serves caregivers across Massachusetts whose loved one qualifies for MassHealth.

We stopped by Odyssey House recently.

Members and staff were in the kitchen, handling clerical work, prepping for outreach. Running the place together, the way the Clubhouse model is supposed to work.

Odyssey House is one of five accredited Viability Clubhouses in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Membership is open, with no time limit and no mandatory attendance.

A peer-to-peer program means the people supporting you share your language and your experience.

Meet the team behind Viability's Deaf and Hard of Hearing Independent Living Services (DHILS): Nicole Nelson, Regional Director, along with Independent Living Specialists Anthony Russo, Gabriela Levesque, Daniel Peters, and Renee Coutts.

Every DHILS staff member is Deaf, late-deafened, or hard of hearing.

Four years in a row, Respect and Dignity has been the one question that has improved every year in Viability's Annual Satisfaction of Services Survey. This year it was over 97%.

Nearly 1,000 participants, families, employers, and community partners responded across five states. That kind of consistency does not happen by accident.

It is the result of staff who show up every day with the people they serve in mind.

A few things people sometimes get wrong about Viability’s Clubhouses:

Membership is not time-limited. There is no discharge date. Members can step away and come back — that is built into the model. Attendance is not mandatory.

And it is not a drop-in center. The work is real and member-driven: clerical tasks, outreach, meal preparation, and communications.

All five Viability Clubhouses are accredited by Clubhouse International.
