We are so excited for the Rolling Hills Library and the St. Joseph community! On Saturday they officially opened their doors! đ
The new 36,000+ square foot facility sits on 4 acres and is surrounded by natural landscaping and beautiful views, creating a welcoming space for the community to gather, learn, and connect. The building is now home to the libraryâs largest branch, the Bookmobile office and garage, administration offices, and the Friends of the Libraryâs used bookstore, Books Revisited.
We are excited to see this incredible community resource come to life and the impact it will have for years to come.
Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this project to completion! đ

We were lucky to be part of the Legacy Brick Pavers, making it even more meaningful as we head toward the Route 66 Centennial. Itâs more than a place; itâs the stories, people, and history of U.S. Route 66, set in stone. đ§ą

Last week we had a Plaque Delivery Day for three outstanding schools. Each one a reflection of vision, collaboration, and a commitment to creating spaces where students can truly thrive.
From early conversations and planning to seeing these buildings come to life, itâs moments like this that remind us why we do what we do. These plaques represent more than a finished project, they celebrate the people, partnerships, and purpose behind each space.
Congratulations to all three schools on this milestone! Weâre honored to have been part of your journey and canât wait to see the impact these spaces will have on the community for years to come.

Libraries arenât just quiet anymore (and we love that).
Theyâre where people gather.
Share ideas.
Build things. Start things.
Some of the best spaces we design arenât about bookshelves at all, theyâre about connection.
Because finding your joy sometimes looks like finding your people.
(And maybe a really good meeting room with great daylight.)

Happy Administrative Professionals Day!
Today weâre giving a big shoutout to the team members who keep Sapp Design Architects running behind the scenes and, honestly, keep the rest of us from falling apart.
To our Administrative team, for keeping the details straight, the calendars in line, the messages polished, and the chaos under control. You juggle schedules, solve problems, keep us organized, and somehow make it all look easy.
Every office has people who make the business work. Weâre lucky enough to have three who do that and probably about 500 other things no one even sees.
We truly could not do what we do without you. Thank you for everything you bring to Sapp Design every single day.

Some joy is a little louder at the library.
It looks like kids crawling into reading nooks.
Turning stairs into stages.
And fully committing to a stack of books taller than they are.
We design these spaces to spark imagination... but the real magic?
That part belongs to the community.
We just build the backdrop.

Some people find their joy in the quiet.
A tucked away corner.
A window seat with just the right light.
A space that says âyou can stay awhile.â
When we design libraries, weâre thinking about these moments; how a space can feel before a single book is opened.
Because calm isnât accidental. Itâs designed.
(And yes⌠we definitely test out the chairs!)

Thank you to the Urban Land Institute for featuring Mid-Continent Public Library's Colbern Road Library Center as a national example of how libraries are evolving into true community hubs.
Libraries are changingâand thatâs a good thing.
Todayâs libraries are more than places to check out books. Theyâre places to share ideas, support entrepreneurs, gather as a community, and create opportunities for learning at every age.
The Colbern Road Library Center, designed by Sapp Design Architects and Helix Architecture + Design, reflects this shift. From co-working and flexible meeting spaces to family-focused areas and outdoor gathering spaces, the library was intentionally designed to meet the changing needs of its community.
