Local 7 ⚡ attended and hosted the IBEW 2nd District Conference this past week. IBEW President Kenneth Cooper attended and stopped by our union hall. At the conference, IBEW leadership discussed:

Organizing and Market Share: Top Down organizing strategies to demonstrate union value to non-union competitors while emphasizing the critical need to increase market share across New England.

Political Endorsement Strategy: Participants established a non-partisan approach to political support, requiring all candidates to clear a strict questionnaire regarding labor-specific legislation, like data center projects, before receiving an endorsement.

Grid Infrastructure and Power Generation: ISO New England delivered a presentation on the regional electric grid, emphasizing that an "all-of-the-above" approach to new power generation is essential to meet growing demand.

NLRB and Legal Risks: An IBEW attorney briefed the group on the shifting National Labor Relations Board under President Trump, warning that unconstitutional firings and expected policy rollbacks could negatively impact union operations.
