Meet Jessi Looney
Project Coordinator | Springfield Builders, Inc.
7 years in construction this summer — but around it her whole life

What inspired her to pursue construction?
“Construction has always been part of my life. When I officially stepped into the industry seven years ago, I realized how many opportunities exist beyond what most people see. I was drawn to the organization, problem-solving, and teamwork that go into every project — and I quickly knew this was where I belonged.”

What does WIC Week mean to her?
“WIC Week is about visibility and momentum. It’s about showing the next generation that construction is a place where women can lead, build, solve, and succeed. The more we highlight the opportunities in this industry, the stronger our future workforce becomes.”

Meet Jennifer Thompson
Project Coordinator | Springfield Builders, Inc.
13 years in construction (this summer!)

What inspired her to pursue construction?
“I was working in the service industry and wanted to start a career. I had a BA in Mathematics and was eager to do something that would utilize my skillset — organization, attention to detail, customer service, etc. After graduating from Drury University, I met with a career advisor who connected me with Springfield Builders, and I have been working there ever since.

In short, I didn’t specifically pick this industry, but I’m happy to say it was the right path for me. One of my favorite things is showing people that construction isn’t one-size-fits-all — there’s room for all kinds of skills.”

What does WIC Week mean to her?
“I love participating in WIC Week because it brings awareness to an industry that isn’t just hard hats and hammers — it’s a playground for different skill sets, and I love spreading that message!”

Meet the Board: Vice President – Jessi Looney

Jessi Looney has been a NAWIC member since 2022 and is a proud third-generation member of the construction industry through Springfield Builders, Inc. She began working at SBI in high school and returned in 2019, where she discovered her passion for construction and has continued to grow in her career. Jessi is currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management at Missouri State University, combining classroom learning with real-world experience on SBI projects. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and their three dogs, often exploring Wonders of Wildlife or spending time outdoors with family.
