Holy Transfiguration College
Established in 2015, Holy Transfiguration College (HTC) of History, Philosophy and Divinity is Agora University’s first college.
HTC is is a pioneering institute dedicated to the humanities from an Eastern Christian perspective. Our Mission is to establish a community of Christian thinkers, where members can grow spiritually and academically, develop in character, and witness in the contemporary world. We believe in a future where our graduates are ready to impact their society by building bridges between Orthodox Christianity and the humanities through distance learning.
To study Eastern Christian history is to enter the memory of the Church and encounter the communities, traditions, and witnesses that have carried the faith across centuries.
The Certificate in Eastern Christian History offers a focused path into that living inheritance, helping students understand the past with greater depth and see its continued significance for the Church today.

Church history helps us understand the faith we have received by listening closely to the lives, struggles, questions, and witness of those who came before us. Through electives such as The Alexandrian Church (I &II), History of Ethiopic or Nubian Christianity, and Church History II: The Oriental Church, M.T.S students encounter Christian communities whose theology and worship were shaped across centuries of faithfulness, challenge, and change. To study their history is to understand our own inheritance more deeply, and to see the Church not as an abstraction, but as a living body carrying the faith from one generation to the next.
