Springfield Missouri Temple

Work should begin soon on the Springfield Missouri Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A date has been set for the groundbreaking.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Springfield Missouri Temple will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Elder Aroldo B. Cavalcante of the United States Southeast Area Presidency will preside at the event.

Many historical events for the Church took place in Missouri, as Latter-day Saints worked to establish Zion during the Church’s early history. Now, more than 84,000 Latter-day Saints call the state home, meeting in around 180 congregations.

The Springfield Missouri Temple will be the third dedicated house of the Lord in the state, joining the Kansas City Missouri and St. Louis Missouri Temples.

As Mary Magdalene and her companions mournfully approached the Garden Tomb, two angels appeared to them and shared the clarion call of all Christianity:

"Why seek ye the living among the dead?"

"He is not here, but is risen" (Luke 24:5-6).

This Easter season we also joyfully testify of this same eternal truth—Jesus Christ is risen. He lives!

The Savior of the world was crucified and, on the third day, rose from the dead, "the firstfruits of them that slept" (1 Corinthians 15:20). His Resurrection allows all to be resurrected, and through His grace, we can find peace "which passeth all understanding" (Philippians 4:7) and "be perfected in him" (Moroni 10:32).

We invite each of you during this Easter season to "seek this Jesus of whom the prophets and apostles have written" (Ether 12:41). As you do so, we testify that your Easter celebrations can strengthen your own faith and testimony that "death is conquered; man is free. Christ has won the victory" ("He Is Risen!" Hymns, no. 199).

The First Presidency recently visited the Salt Lake Temple—one of the many sacred temples under construction around the world—to observe its ongoing renovation in preparation for reopening in 2027.

In a world seeking peace, the house of the Lord offers us the opportunity to find it.

The youth are amazing 👏 Today in seminary we discussed making the Temple a lifelong pursuit. They each created a piece of the temple and wrote down a goal. A few youth shared their testimony in how the temple brings peace, comfort, and revelation. Some of the goals shared… ✨️ visiting the temple monthly ✨️ getting married and sealed in the temple ✨️ planning a temple trip with family/ friends ✨️ visiting the nearest temple when on vacation ✨️ going to all the temples in the USA Pres Nelson Said “Please make time for the Lord in His holy house. Nothing will strengthen your spiritual foundation like temple service and temple worship. Please believe me when I say that when your spiritual foundation is built solidly upon Jesus Christ, you have no need to fear. As you are true to your covenants made in the temple, you will be strengthened by His power. Then, when spiritual earthquakes occur, you will be able to stand strong because your spiritual foundation is solid and immovable.” Thank you for your strength and example youth!
