Don’t pile mulch high around your trees! “Mulch volcanoes” trap moisture against the trunk, inviting rot, pests, and disease. Keep mulch 2 to 4 inches deep and pull it a few inches away from the trunk. Your trees will thank you! 🌳

Tree Fact: Most tree roots are not deep underground. Around 90% of a tree’s roots grow within the top 18 inches of soil and often spread well beyond the canopy. That’s why driving heavy equipment, piling dirt or digging near a tree can damage it even when the trunk is never touched. Protect the ground around your trees and you protect the whole tree. 🌳
