REMEMBER THE OCTOPUS? WE’RE BACK! 😃
The Midwest Octopolis crew has returned from the desert and we’re still wrapping our heads around what we built together.
10 massive textile panels. 19–25 feet tall. 8 shoulder panels. Thousands of reclaimed fabric pieces. More than 8 MILLION stitches. All created right here in Illinois and on the playa by countless hands as the skin of a 25-foot-tall mother octopus.
Built from what was discarded. Made to make a difference. 💙
Her journey from desert to reef is far from over, with ocean deployment planned for 2027–2028. We still have funds to raise to get her there, so please watch, share, and help us spread the story far and wide.
