We believe in empowering seniors to enjoy life to the fullest.
Some days, Evelyn joins classes and book discussions. Other days, she heads to Sylvan Beach to sit near the water and enjoy the view. Having the freedom to decide what the day looks like matters. Independent senior living creates space for both connection and quiet moments. What would your perfect afternoon look like?
Four teenagers, one dollar each, a football game in Beaumont, and a plan that mostly got figured out along the way. Dale's story had hitchhiking, a ferry ride, a YMCA bed, and a little rain before making it back home. No matter how long it's been, some stories you never forget.
Ross did not measure success by awards or titles. He thought about Saturday breakfasts, conversations over time, and watching someone grow into the person they were meant to become. Faith-based senior living creates room for stories and relationships that last.
Tom said it more than once because he meant it: Dancing is a celebration of life. Between late-night music and friends showing up each week, he has found a rhythm that still brings people together. Independent senior living can make room for the things that keep you moving. Follow along for more stories like this.

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, we honor the brave heroes who gave their lives for our freedom. We remember their sacrifice with gratitude, prayer, and hope. 🇺🇸
Part 2: “Tell us again, Grandma.” That’s what Beverly’s grandchildren say every time she shares the story of her first love. You can hear how much joy she still finds in remembering every detail. Those family moments continue to shape community living centered on connection and storytelling.

We are grateful to have completed two Certified The Eden Alternative Associate trainings this year as we continue our culture change journey! Our first training was held in February at Denman Avenue Baptist Church in Lufkin, followed by our second training held this month at the University Christian Church in Fort Worth. Thank you to both churches for serving as host sites as we carry out our mission to honor and serve older adults as an expression of Christ’s love.
Part 1: She was 18, in love, and sure she knew her own heart. Years later, it’s still the story her grandchildren ask her to tell. Stories like these are part of what makes Methodist Retirement Communities so special. Stay tuned for the second part of Beverly's story!
Ross called himself a “jack of all trades,” and honestly, he earned it. His career path moved from truck lots to trade school to bookstores, with a few unexpected turns in between. Stories like his are what make retirement communities in Texas feel full of lived experience and personality.
