RAILROAD CROSSINGS NOW CLOSED

Our Chief of Police has confirmed that Norfolk Southern has officially closed the following railroad crossings, and they are expected to remain closed for approximately two hours, starting from 2 PM:

🚧 Woodrow Ave.
🚧 Columbia Ave.
🚧 S. Hull St.

We apologize for the inconvenience this is causing. We know the timing made it difficult to plan ahead, and we appreciate your patience while these closures are in effect.

Please use alternate routes where possible, thank you for bearing with us.

Traffic Alert: Railroad Crossing Closures Today

Norfolk Southern notified the Borough only this morning that all three railroad crossings will be closed simultaneously today for approximately 2 hours. This is not something the Borough was given advance notice of, and we are sharing this with you as soon as we learned of it ourselves.

The crossings affected are:
🚧 Woodrow Ave.
🚧 Columbia Ave.
🚧 S. Hull St.

WE DO NOT YET HAVE AN EXACT TIME FOR THE CLOSURES. As soon as Norfolk Southern provides that information, we will share it here immediately.

We understand this may cause real frustration and inconvenience, especially with so little notice. Please plan for possible delays today and consider alternate routes where possible.

🛴 A friendly safety reminder from the Sinking Spring Police Department!

We've been seeing more electric scooters around town, and we want everyone to stay safe. Under Pennsylvania law, electric scooters are classified as motor vehicles, but they don't come equipped with the safety features (like turn signals, mirrors, and lighting) that make them legal for use on public streets and sidewalks.

For everyone's safety, electric scooters should only be ridden on private property.

We care about keeping our roads and sidewalks safe for all our neighbors, walkers, drivers, and riders alike. Thanks for helping us look out for one another!

If you know a neighbor, friend, or family member who rides a scooter, please share this post with them. A little heads-up now can help keep everyone safe.

NEWS POST: 🚨 SAVE THE DATE: National Night Out 2026! 🚨 Mark your calendars!

Most of you probably remember hearing about the fire at the Freight House in Heritage Park back in March of last year. What started because of squirrels chewing through the electrical wiring ended up taking a building that had been part of this community since 1858. And that a group of neighbors worked incredibly hard to save and relocate to Heritage Park back in 1978, just so it wouldn't be lost. It's gone now; the stone fireplace was the only thing still standing. And we've been busy rebuilding around it.

Reconstruction is already well underway. Our goal is to bring it back the way it was. Same character, same feel. While making sure it's here for another hundred-plus years. The problem is that insurance only goes so far, and we're looking to close the gap on what's left.

If you grew up here, rented it for a family event, or just always figured it'd be there when you drove past — this is your chance to help bring it back.

Don't let FOG (fats, oils, and grease) clog our sewers! A few easy habits at home can help prevent backups and protect our waterways. Wipe pans before washing, collect grease in a container instead of pouring it down the drain, and remember: drains are not trash cans. Thanks for doing your part! 🚰

The end of the school year is getting very real! What are your kids doing this summer? Our Brookfield Playground is nearly full. There is still room at our Main playground at Ruth and Evans. New pickleball courts and lots of room to play group games. Our leaders are ready to guide your kids to a summer of outdoor fun with friends, old and new!
