Our 4-week summer LightHouse program, Camp GLOW, has come to an end! This year, an average of 100 kids attended each week. 🥳🥳
Thank you to all our hard-working staff, led by the talented LightHouse team, so many wonderful community partners, and amazing volunteers for making this a memorable summer!!
A special invitation to be at the Investiture of the Honorable Jerry Edwards, Jr.!
Jerry joined our Board of Directors in 2006, serving as Chair from July 2018 until June 2020.
It was an honor to be with him, his family, and many from our community to celebrate his success and and this historic moment as he is now the first African American federal judge to serve on the Western District of Louisiana and among the youngest in the nation at age 45.
Congratulations, Jerry! Thank you for all you do!
We are incredibly excited about our partnership this summer with interns and their data analytics project. As part of this project, the interns volunteered their time at Camp GLOW spending the day with our LightHouse students; giving them a deeper connection with our organization and those we serve!
Shout out to Whataburger for donating breakfast this week at LightHouse Camp GLOW!

Our annual Board of Directors meeting was bittersweet today, as it was Keith Evans’ last one as Board Chair. Succeeding him in this role is Dr. Sheyenne Carper. Sheyenne is a past recipient of our LightHouse scholarship, which allowed her to focus on school and fulfill her dream of becoming a Pediatrician! While we will miss Keith, we also look forward to all things to come!

JaShunna Boykins 🤍🤍
For JaShunna, the road has been long and difficult, but she has not had to face it alone. After seeking help for her mental health in high school, she was placed with a compassionate and caring counselor at Volunteers of America North Louisiana where she learned meaningful coping mechanisms to navigate her mental health. Years later, she is a published author and has become a peer support specialist at our renowned EpiCenter program where she advocates for others to receive the support she found through VOA.
