Join us for a five-week online class exploring the Anapanasati Sutta, the Buddha’s discourse on mindfulness of breathing. Together we’ll use the breath as a foundation for concentration, mindfulness, and insight, moving through the four sets of instructions in the sutta and exploring how to bring the practice into daily life. The teachings also connect closely with this year’s exploration of Transcendent Dependent Arising at Seattle Insight.
The class meets on four consecutive Thursdays :5/21, 5/28, 6/4, and 6/11, with a final session on 6/25 (no class on 6/18). Meetings take place on Zoom. Basic instruction in insight meditation requested. Registration required.

Join Nana Gyesie this Saturday for a daylong retreat. Beginners are welcome!
We will be exploring Transcendental Dependent Origination (TDO) as an embodied, lived realization rather than a purely conceptual or metaphysical insight. Situated in the contemporary context of 2026 and beyond—marked by technological acceleration, collective trauma, identity fragmentation, and the commodification of spirituality—the course examines how misunderstood transcendence often becomes a form of spiritual bypassing. Participants will investigate how disembodied interpretations of non-duality, emptiness, or transcendence can reinforce dissociation, ethical disengagement, and unresolved psychological patterns. Through somatic inquiry, contemplative practice, and relational reflection, the training restores Transcendental Dependent Origination as a dynamic, ethical, and nervous-system–aware process—revealing how liberation emerges not by escaping conditions, but by fully embodying their interdependence in thought, body, action, and relationship.

The teaching theme for 2026 is Transcendental Dependent Arising, which represents the conditional nature of awakening.
Tuere Sala gave an overview about this topic in her blog. Here are a few excerpts:
“Last year, we explored the Four Noble Truths. They represent the understanding of the relationship between dukkha, our clinging, letting go and the path in which all of this takes place. This year we are turning towards exploring the conditional nature of that letting go.”
“It may seem like letting go is something you have to learn how to do but throughout this year you will hopefully you will begin to see that letting go happens on its own. It is conditional and arises out of particular causes. We, as practitioners, learn to create the conditions that set those causes in motion and let the natural aliveness of our practice carry us towards awakening.”
“This year we are going to explore what it takes to get quiet and patient so we can begin to see this natural human capacity we have for awakening. The wisdom and compassion will enable us to recognize and appreciate the 12 links of Transcendental Dependent Arising.”
We hope you join us at Seattle Insight this year as we explore Transcendental Dependent Arising!
