In the Project Read Spelling Bee, teams can buy lifelines like "buy a letter", "use your phone", and "double your points" to create little advantages that can make a big difference. And some teams have figured out the the more lifelines you have, the better your odds.

But for Project Read students, a lifeline can be something much bigger: a tutor, a new skill, extra practice, or someone who believes in them.

This Spelling Bee your support helps provide real-life lifelines that help adults read their goals. Every lifeline counts.

Pause after a sentence or paragraph and ask yourself: “What did that just say?”

Put it into your own words, even if they’re simple. This helps you understand, remember, and make sense of what you read.
