Meet Charles, our new Pantry Team Lead! 💛

Charles joined us about a month ago. One of his favorite parts of the job has been seeing our guests’ excitement when unique and delicious food donations arrive at our Free Food Markets.

“It’s great to be somewhere where I can really do some good, and there’s nothing quite as satisfying as the smiles on our guests’ faces.”

Outside of Sunshine Division, Charles is a musician and stand-up comedian, and his sense of humor definitely follows him to work (which we appreciate).

We’re lucky to have Charles on our team!

Cindi started visiting Sunshine Division this year when her budget could no longer stretch far enough to cover groceries.

“By the end of last month, I was eating peanut butter crackers for the last three or four days. I haven’t bought meat in months.”

At our Free Food Market in NW Portland, Cindi and her caregiver filled a cart with free groceries, including meat and fresh produce, thanks to your generous support.

With rising grocery costs and changes to SNAP making benefits harder to access and keep for many Oregonians, more of our neighbors are struggling to afford the food they need.

Huge thanks to Plaid Pantry for helping us get free groceries to families in our community! 💛

This past July, Plaid Pantry customers donated $43,000 at the register through Project C.A.R.E.S. to help ensure our community always has a place to turn for help putting food on the table.

It’s Olivia’s last week at Sunshine Division!

For the past four years, Olivia has been an important part of our Client Services team, working directly with our guests to help them get the groceries that best fit their needs.

She’s been with us through some major transitions, from distributing emergency food boxes during the pandemic to returning to a shopping-style format and opening our brand-new Free Food Market.

We’re so grateful for everything Olivia has brought to Sunshine Division and the care she’s shown our guests over the years. Please join us in thanking Olivia and wishing her the best in what’s next! 👏

School’s back in session! 🍎 That means Sunshine Division is back at Community Transitional School every Friday distributing food bags to students.

Each bag is filled with fresh produce and easy-to-prepare foods to help keep students nourished through the weekend and ready to learn when they return on Monday.

A $30 gift provides a student with enough food to last through the weekend.
