Susan Feldman was a friend, mentor, educator, and essential part of the Hudson Valley music community. Even after 35 years of teaching music in the New York State School System, Susan simply wouldn’t accept a retirement without teaching strings. In 2018, she and Daisy created the Ovation Strings program, in collaboration with Wilfredo Morel and Arts10566, because of her belief that high quality music instruction was a necessity for all children, not just the ones who can afford it. Today, it is one of our biggest programs, with classes happening in six different YMCAs and Boys and Girls Clubs across the NY Metro area and more on the way in 2026. We miss our dear Susan every day, but we still see her in the passion of our Ovation Strings students.

Students from each of our six Ovation Strings programs (White Plains, Kingston, Tarrytown, the Bronx, Stamford, and Mount Kisco) will be performing in the concert!

One student chosen by our Ovation Strings teachers will be presented with the first Susan Feldman Music Scholarship, which will give them $1,000 towards private violin lessons.
