FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
INCIDENT: UPDATE- Battery Investigation
DATE: May 18th, 2026
TIME: Between 6:30 PM – 8:15 PM
On the evening of Monday, May 18, 2026, a teenage boy was brought to the Park Ridge Police Department by a parent after it was believed he had been the victim of a battery. The parent reported receiving a phone call from the teenager requesting help, but he was unable to provide his location. Using the phone’s GPS, the parent was able to locate him and take him to the police station.
The teenager had sustained a serious head injury and was transported to a local hospital by Park Ridge Paramedics for medical treatment. Due to the severity of the injury, officers were initially unable to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
The Park Ridge Police Department then requested assistance from the community, asking residents to review any available doorbell or surveillance camera footage that may have captured the incident or the victim’s movements.
As a result of the community’s assistance, and an extensive canvass conducted by Park Ridge Detectives, police obtained video footage showing the events that led to the injury. The investigation determined the injury occurred while the victim was roughhousing with a teenage friend, and that the injury was accidental in nature.
Based on the findings of the investigation, no criminal intent was established, and no charges will be filed.
The Park Ridge Police Department would like to thank the community for their cooperation and assistance throughout the investigation. We extend our best wishes to the victim for a full and speedy recovery.
