Monroe Transit System

Monroe Transit is celebrating 120 years of providing transportation to the community. Established in 1906, the agency is the oldest publicly owned transit agency in the US. The original name was Municipal Street Railway. Congrats MTS!

Monroe Transit’s regular bus service will resume tomorrow, Monday, February 2, 2026.

Due to power outages from the recent storm, MTS will be closed Saturday, January 31, 2026. Service should resume on Monday, February 2, 2026.

Due to inclement weather, MTS will be closed Thursday January 29, 2026.

Due to inclement weather, MTS will be closed Wednesday January 28, 2026.

Due to inclement weather, MTS will be closed Tuesday January 27, 2026.

Due to inclement weather, MTS has ended service for the day.

Monroe Transit is providing service today, as long as the weather permits. We will update you on any changes.

In celebration of the Christmas holiday, Monroe Transit will be closed tomorrow, December 25, 2025. We will resume regular service Friday, December 26, 2025.
