Approximately 1,000 Monroe residents were supported today through the Ouachita Parish Disaster Relief Food Distribution at the Monroe Civic Center, hosted by the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana.
We are grateful to Marsala Beverage for their donation of canned water and to all the volunteers who stepped up to serve our community following the recent winter storm. Together, we continue to show up for one another.

The City of Monroe has secured $17.7 million in federal funding for critical infrastructure projects that strengthen our community and improve quality of life for residents.
These investments - the result of months of planning, coordination, and advocacy by Mayor Friday Ellis and his team beginning in 2025 - were made possible through the strong leadership and support of the Louisiana federal delegation: Senator John Kennedy, Senator Bill Cassidy, and Congresswoman Julia Letlow.
Funded projects include storm water drainage and sanitary sewer improvements, sewer lift station rehabilitation, transportation infrastructure enhancements, and community facility renovations that support disaster preparedness, emergency response, and public safety across Monroe.
Mayor Friday Ellis said, “We are grateful for the years of collaboration and leadership by our congressional delegation that has resulted in these funds being awarded. While these funds were not sought as a result of the winter storm, there’s never been a time that our need has been greater as a result of what we’ve endured over the last few weeks. These dollars are proof of what’s possible through communication, collaboration, and a shared understanding of our infrastructure needs and the investments necessary. We can’t thank our delegation enough for their work over the past year to make this happen.”
We are grateful to our federal partners and their continued commitment to investing in Monroe’s future.
