MCP relies heavily on the magic of squeezable wet food tube treats to help us keep our cat friends happy! For wellness patients, a cat GoGurt can sometimes make or break the appointment. Leaving their home and routine is scary, and some cats have even had negative experiences at the vet before, so we really like to utilize the tasty stuff to make the experience as enjoyable as possible! With shelter cats, it's almost more important - you're now living in this strange environment that isn't really the vet, but it also isn't a home either, and all these people you've never met before keep trying to interact with you. Starting off a friendship with some GoGurt can definitely get a cat's shelter experience off on the right foot!

This is where we need your help: our GoGurt stock is running very low! We have so many cats that come into our building who could really use this special treat to lighten their experience! We're not picky about brands: Churu, Tiki Cat, Delectables, Temptations, Bonkers - as long as it's wet food in a plastic tube, it all hits the same for our cats! Pluto had a great time getting all the pets and attention at yesterday’s Cider Market! He’s a very outgoing cat who loves meeting new people, and going to new places doesn’t scare him at all! It’s not often we have an adult cat who is such a great candidate to go to a vendor fair, but Pluto is a special guy that way!

Pluto did come to MCP with some medical hurdles we’ve been helping him overcome: he’s FIV+, but that’s more about us doing our best to educate potential adopters about how that condition really isn’t a big deal; he’s had entropion surgery on both eyes, and it’s pretty uncommon for that surgery to need to be re-done in the future; and he’s also transitioning from a prescription allergy food to “regular” cat food after we noticed his thin coat and caught him itching more often than we’d like. If he does end up starting to itch again eating “normal” cat food, then he’d likely need to go back onto his prescription diet for the rest of his life. But the prescription food and the double eye surgery have really helped him on his way to his major glow-up! He looks a million times better than when we first took him in, and his personality is really a 12/10!

We've got some events coming up for MCP!

🍎 Saturday 7/25 from 11-4, we'll be at Hidden Cave Cidery! This is one of several Cider Markets put on by Madison Makers Market this summer, and it'll include vendors, yard games, crafts, food trucks, and live music!

😸 Saturday 8/15 from 12-6, Okie Dokie Tattoos will be hosting a cat-themed tattoo flash sale with some of the proceeds going towards MCP! They'll also be collecting donations in the form of much-needed items, and celebrity guest, Jason, from Instagram's "Cats of Madison" will be attending and taking pictures of all the cool cat body art!

🍺 Saturday 8/15 from 3-8, we will be at Delta Beer Lab for the Dog Days of Summer event, put on by Madison Makers Market! The theme of the day will be local rescues and vendors who are domestic pet-themed! We might even have an available cat or 2 at the event - who knows!

We made it! We asked for your help, and you delivered. Stewie is now able to get his special surgery scheduled with our friends at . We cannot thank you enough for your support and generosity. Because of you, Stewie will go on to have a more comfortable and happy life. 😻

Stay tuned as we keep you updated on his procedure and recovery! His foster mom, Holly, says “I’m so glad to hear that Stewie will be able to get the surgery he needs! He is such a curious and playful guy, and I’m sure this will be a huge relief for him.” ❤
