🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨

The Lighthouse Point Police Department has received multiple reports today from residents who have been contacted by scammers claiming they missed jury duty and now have a warrant for their arrest.

The scammers are spoofing the Lighthouse Point Police Department’s phone number, making it appear as though the call is coming from us. We have also received calls from residents who simply noticed a missed call from our number, even though no one from our department contacted them.

Please remember:
• The Lighthouse Point Police Department will never call you to demand payment for a warrant, missed jury duty, or any other legal matter.
• We will never ask you to pay with gift cards, cryptocurrency, or other unusual payment methods.
• If you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately and do not provide any personal or financial information.

If you are unsure whether a call is legitimate, contact the Lighthouse Point Police Department directly using our non-emergency number or call the Broward County Clerk of Courts to verify any jury-related matters.

Please help protect your family, friends, and neighbors by sharing this post. Staying informed is one of the best ways to prevent these scams.

A few months ago one of our readers asked about the scooter. Although we no longer have scooters, here are 2 pictures of Officer Santomarco on the scooter.

🍧☀️ Ending summer camp on a sweet note!

This morning, the Lighthouse Point Police Department was proud to sponsor flavored ice for the campers as they celebrated the final day of this year’s summer camp. Our officers enjoyed stopping by to visit with the children, share a few laughs, and help make the last day of camp even more memorable.

Moments like these are a wonderful reminder that building strong relationships with our community starts at a young age. We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of another successful summer camp and to help create lasting memories for the children and families we proudly serve.

A special thank you goes to Officer Jack Bendit, who spent the summer at camp helping keep our campers safe while building positive relationships with them each day. His dedication and commitment helped make this year’s camp a fun, safe, and memorable experience for everyone.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s summer camp such a success. We look forward to doing it all again next summer!

💙 Thank You, Bridegan Foundation & Walmart!

A sincere thank you to the Bridegan Foundation and Walmart for their generous donation of a Bexley Box to the Lighthouse Point Police Department.

The Bexley Box provides comfort and support to children during difficult situations by providing age-appropriate toys, books, activities, and comfort items that help reduce stress and anxiety while officers are assisting families.

This thoughtful donation will make a meaningful difference in the way our officers care for children in our community. We are grateful for the Bridegan Foundation and Walmart's commitment to supporting law enforcement and helping us better serve our youngest residents.

Please share with your elders, these common type scams all require the victim to rush out and buy gift cards, often keeping the victim on the line while the purchases are made. The scammers can be quite convincing and appear to be legitimate, the BIG clue is requesting payment in gift cards or even cash placed in books and boxes and then will be asked to ship or even send someone to pick up the box! If you receive any requests like this please call us and we can help!

🚲🛴 Ride Smart. Ride Safe. 🚲🛴

Parents: Please talk with your children about riding e-bikes safely. E-bikes are fast, and one poor decision can lead to a serious crash.

Kids: Wear your helmet 🚴, obey traffic laws, stay alert 👀, and never assume drivers can see you. Slow down around pedestrians, don't block entire travel lanes, and always ride with courtesy and respect for others.

Let's all do our part to keep our streets and sidewalks safe so everyone gets home safely.

☀️ WATER SAFETY REMINDER 🌊

The Lighthouse Point Police Department reminds residents to stay alert and practice water safety at all times. With pools, canals, and waterways throughout our community, children should never be left unattended near water—even for a moment.

Please remember:

• Always maintain constant supervision of children around pools, canals, and other bodies of water
• Designate a responsible adult as a “water watcher”
• Ensure pool gates and barriers are secure
• Have children wear properly fitted life jackets when appropriate
• Enroll children in swim lessons and discuss basic water safety rules
• Learn CPR and be prepared to act in an emergency

Drowning can happen quickly and quietly. Taking a few simple precautions can help prevent a tragedy.

Stay safe and help us keep Lighthouse Point safe in and around the water.
