In 1965, the Lighthouse Point Library started in a tiny rented storefront with an all-volunteer staff and just 500 books. Today, thanks to community support, we boast a beautiful 8,000 square foot facility with 40,000+ print materials, eBooks, audiobooks, eResources, patron computers, patron WiFi, children’s educational stations, and award winning programming for all ages. We had so much fun at this week's Makerspace: Art-chaeology! Families made Song Dynasty inspired “silk” fans and learned about ancient Chinese civilizations. Many thanks to Cristian and Mia for modeling their projects.

This week, Library Director Christy Keyes was honored to speak on leadership skills at the Florida Library Association's annual conference. It was a privilege to share best practices and represent the City of Lighthouse Point at this statewide event. Thank you to the 260+ residents who came out on Saturday to celebrate the completion of library construction at “Wild About the Library.” Guests enjoyed wildlife shows, a scavenger hunt, crafts, therapy dogs, treats, and prizes. Your support and enthusiasm made the event a wonderful success!
