Juneteenth, observed each year on June 19, commemorates the day in 1865 when news of freedom finally reached enslaved African Americans in Texas—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.
Today, Juneteenth is recognized as a celebration of freedom, resilience, culture and the ongoing pursuit of opportunity for all.
At Butler Tech, we believe learning about our nation’s history helps us better understand one another and the world around us.
